J - Walking

One day last week as eye was crossing the street to the coffee shop, eye carefully looked both ways.  Eye was looking for the best time to cross in order to avoid cars on the way to the median, and then to the other side of the street.  However, eye was definitely more concerned with police.  Eye MIGHT have a warrant out for a ticket, unpaid as of yet.  If eye was on the median and saw a police car, eye would definitely cross quickly, or if they were close, maybe even go the other direction, even if it were out into traffic!  Eye would MUCH rather be hit by a car than arrested.  After all, hospital would lead to pain medication, jail would lead to withdrawal. Goodness, where our priorities lie!

  1. Bloody hell! It seems strange now to see it so vividly put. I'm terrified of hospitals with the methadone issue: proving I'm on it and what dose and waiting waiting waiting blah blah I remember being in mental hospital reception and they had someone upstairs going mental in withdrawals frantic phone calls from nurses upstairs and NO PROCEDURE IN PLACE to tell anybody what to do!

  4. I wonder if I will ever be able to pass a police car or a cop without sneaking a glance to see if he is watching me or following close behind, calling in my tag. Usually the pulse rate increases and my 'fight or flight' reflex kicks in just briefly then I tell my brain to just chill.

  5. Ugh, mental hospital -- once a friend was having a drug-induced psychotic break. Rather than waiting til the drug wore off, they had him sent to the loony bin, diagnosed him while he was under the influence, and then still kept him there for two weeks, wasting space somewhere someone who really needed it may have needed to be.

  6. When eye used to drive, eye didn't have a license for a long time. So, sometimes would get pulled over & they'd tell me it had NOTHING to do with a traffic violation, just running the plates. So, whenever eye saw o police car behind me, would find a quick neighborhood street or parking lot to turn into. May or may not have looked suspicious, but at least if the lights went on, the car would not be towed.
